Originally written for his immediate family with the perspective of growing up in a large Italian-American environment, Andy's book now offers fascinating insights for a broader audience. Divided into two parts, Book One is titled "Watch the Hands," and Book Two "Don't Listen to the Mouth." Through his experiences and unique perspective, Andy brings a wealth of knowledge and intriguing stories to the page. Book one traces his life from his 1936 birth in a Bronx private clinic to his 1997 election as Westchester County Executive. Book 2 covers his life as Westchester County Executive to his 90th Birthday. It reveals his perspective and motivations for life. Andrew J. Spano (Andy) is a retired educator and elected official in Westchester County, NY, who has lived, worked and participated through some of the most pivotal moments in modern history. From World War II to the tumultuous 1960s, through the events of 9/11, and the advent of new technologies, Andy has also dedicated himself to supporting the education of children with challenges and using creative solutions to address some unique problems in government. He has received recognition of his achievements, including honorary degrees and the highest honor bestowed by the government of Italy, Cavaliere. He has met and worked with many powerful and influential figures and offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at political environments.
