War in Florida is a first person narrative about the Second Seminole War. Second Lieutenant Woodburne Potter served with Major General Gaines. He was wounded at the battle of Camp Izard.Lt. Potter tells us about the lead up to the war. The Seminoles were unable and unwilling to comply with the Treaty of Payne's Landing, which compelled them to remove to the west. The mounting pressure between the Seminoles and the Indian Agents, and the negotiations for their removal, are eyewitness reports.
