This thesis introduces and investigates the Coordinates as a Service (Caas) concept. It follows a novel, service-oriented approach to separate the provisioning of relevant information from the solitary use of individual measurement systems within the domain of Large-Scale Metrology. Building on a new method for coordinate registration, IIoT protocols such as REST and MQTT as well as an architecture based on microservices, a complete system is developed and validated in a laboratory scale demonstrator.
