"New York City, 1922. Nicolas Caraveo, a 17-year-old transgender boy from Wisconsin, shows no interest in the glamor of the city. Nick lives in a small rented house in West Egg that belongs to his 18-year-old cousin, Daisy Fabrega, who lives in popular East Egg near her wealthy fiancâe, Tom. Nick is shocked to discover that her cousin calls herself Daisy Fay, she has eliminated any vestiges of her Latin heritage, and acts at all times as if she were white. Nick's neighbor in West Egg is a mysterious young man named Jay Gatsby, whose castle-like mansion is the site of parties so extravagant that they dazzle and terrify Nick. At one of those parties, Nick reveals that the whole show is aimed at impressing a girl from Jay's past: Daisy. And he also discovers something else; Jay is also transgender. As Nick becomes increasingly immersed in the glittering culture of decadence, he spends more time with Jay, aiming to help his new friend reconnect with his love from his past. But Nick's feelings begin to complicate when he realizes that he is falling for Jay's open-mindedness, his idealism, and his misplaced faith in the American dream"--
