The Way Home

In 1996, Kris was brutally attacked for hours by two of her co-workers on the police department. Seventeen years later, she began to recover the memories from that day during frequently occurring nightmares. To add insult to injury, not only would her attackers not be held accountable in criminal courts, but a civil suit could have been turned in their favor as well. Just shy of twenty years later, Mack Parkins is dead, and Kris is the number one suspect as far as the St. Louis Police Department is concerned. According to the police she had plenty of opportunity and even more motive. They were sure they had their smoking gun, but Kris knew she did not do it. When she reported the crime, she thought it was difficult to be on the other side of the interview table, but now she finds herself on the other side of jail cell bars, with a very strong possibility of it being a permanent situation. In a strange turn of events, everything she experienced as a police officer, from being arrested to sitting in a courtroom, she is on the opposite side of the fence. Now, more than ever, Kris must lean on her friends and family for support, the biggest being Ronnie, her academy classmate and friend. As she embarks on this journey to save her life from being one behind bars, Kris begins questioning who she is, and whether the choices she has made in her recent past have been the right ones.
