The book tells the story of a young man`s experiences in the first year of a two and a half year commercial apprenticeship with the Rank Organization in London starting at the tender age of 17. He lived during these two and a half years in a residential club for young men newly arrived in London in Primrose Hill, where he shared a room with two other young me in a similar position. The stories in the book describe some of his adventures in settling in to life in the world of entertainment in the big city. In 1957 London was slowly emerging from the depressing, post war years and was already showing signs of becoming the London of the “Swinging Sixties”
