In May 2001 the General Synod of the Church of Ireland passed a statute, the contents of which form the Calendar and Collects for the new edition of the Book of Common Prayer. It was decided that this should come into force immediately because it relates to the lectionary already approved and the contemporary language collects and post communion prayers replace those issued for trial use in 1995. This book is being produced in the style chosen for the new edition of the Book of Common Prayer.
