When eighteen year old stockbroker's clerk Richard Smith is told by his mother that he is adopted and that his birth mother comes from the planet Mwwiuna in the Buidhe Galaxy, life is never quite the same for him again. Treachery, intrigue and sibling rivalry, plus the companionship of an amorous Mwwiunan beauty, all have their effect on this young man, who is subject to the same hopes and fears as those around him, but while some expect him to lead from the front and to be successful, others hope he will fail and die.
