Sepsis - Every Minute Counts! With the third highest mortality rate in Germany, sepsis is an acute emergency comparable to heart attack and stroke. This insidious disease can develop from an everyday infection and affects all of us. Yet it remains largely unknown to the public and many medical professionals. My book brings sepsis out of the shadows and raises awareness of its dangers. I not only share my own experience as a survivor, but also give a voice to family members and medical professionals. Every perspective and every diagnostic skill is critical to recognizing this silent danger. Education and understanding can save lives and prevent worse. My book is more than my personal story of facing the life-threatening challenge of sepsis at 1800 meters in the Swiss Alps in August 2021, which abruptly ended my dream of working on an alpine pasture.
