When Mary was twelve, her mother's father passed. In those days, the viewing was at home in the parlor. Looking at her grandfather, she knew on some level of consciousness it was not him-just a shell. What moved the shell was gone. She kept telling herself, This is not him, not understanding why everyone was crying. Feeling guilty, she began to cry too. Yet she knew he had just moved to another place, Heaven. Many years later, she realized this was her first experience with understanding Spirit. At eighteen, she began her spiritual journey with meditation, eventually teaching others how to obtain peace within. Years later, when severe inflammation consumed her body and doctors offered no diagnosis beyond steroids, Mary faced her greatest test. Unable to sit in lotus position or barely walk, she discovered that true healing required complete awakening of body, mind, and spirit.
