My Country-God's Country continues the story of the joy, disappointments, and challenges Eric Sager confronts as he grows to manhood on the hundred-thousand-acre ranch of his grandparents, Gavin and Luta Sager. His transition from a self-centered teenager to a responsible young man is slow yet guided by Feather Jackson, the aggressive and vivacious young lady who has enough confidence and self-assurance for both. Eric faces a life-changing dilemma in the midst of his grandmother's effort to retain the ranch, and his decision will determine his direction for the rest of his life. Luta Sager must deal with the illness of her husband and a cattle market that seems to have no bottom. Faced with the problem of insufficient income to provide for her family, she has to decide on selling part of the ranch that has been in her family for a hundred years. She is in danger of losing her faith which has carried her through devastating events including the murder of their two daughters. Frank Mendenhall has been promoted to superintendent of schools and the future for him and his family appears to be promising. Suddenly, he is blindsided with an announcement he would have never thought possible. Proficient at his job but lost when it comes to addressing personal problems, he discovers that sometimes acceptance is the only solution.
