Maxine Hamilton-Williams just received an invite to her own wedding. The only problem is, she isn't engaged. In fact, she's not even dating. After spending Christmas with a man she may have been harbouring a small crush on, and sharing a passionate kiss, Maxxy thinks the new year might finally be the time to make a move on the Detroit Panthers captain. But her life gets turned upside down when her estranged mother starts sending out wedding invites with her name on them. Teddy Carter is approaching the finish line of his professional hockey career and has no idea what's next. For now, he is focusing on making it through his final season and trying to go out on a high note. But when he overhears Maxxy talking about marrying somebody else, he offers a solution.
