Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is characterized by a pattern of behaviour, present in multiple settings (school, work & home), that can result in performance issues in social, educational/work settings. Present book has used the DSM III-R (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders) as a measure to categorize experience of affected individuals. Symptoms include descriptions of inattention, hyperactivity & impulsivity that include behaviours like failure to pay attention to details, difficulty organizing tasks, excessive talking or fidgeting or an inability to remain seated in appropriate situations. The book is intended to lighten the burden of parents, teachers and the hyperactive child by viewing their problem from the perspective of a behavior problem that needs to be managed, like most things in our lives. Current book is an amalgamation of symptoms & terminologies used to describe children & adolescents who displayed inappropriate and excessive activity, poor attention span, distractibility, impulsivity and a host of other symptoms in context that demanded more order and discipline.
