Longfellow's Evangeline (1905)

Longfellow's Evangeline is a narrative poem that tells the story of a young Acadian woman named Evangeline and her search for her lost love, Gabriel, after they were separated during the forced deportation of the Acadian people from Nova Scotia by the British in 1755. The poem is set in the French-speaking community of Grand-Pr¿¿¿¿¿, where Evangeline and Gabriel grew up and fell in love. The poem is divided into nine parts, each describing a different stage of Evangeline's journey as she travels through various locations in North America, from Louisiana to the Great Plains, in search of Gabriel.
