The book deals with the process of ancient steel production with the focus on the Przeworsk culture located in nowadays Poland. The work covers the topics from historic raw materials till the latest production steps and also includes the metallurgical analysis of nine iron swords that have been found during archaeological excavations in Oblin, Poland. The swords were of different origin and showed significant differences towards design and metallurgical attributes. 3 groups could were established: swords of Celtic origin, from the Roman Empire and local products.
