Produktinformationen "From Leeds to Lashburn"
Set in the 20th century, From Leeds to Lashburn by Joyce Sjogren is a historical romance which begins in Britain and ends in Lashburn, Saskatchewan, Canada. In 1903, while in England, Louise Hesley receives a letter from her lover in Canada, telling her that he wants to marry her and asking her to move to Canada to be with him. Although reluctant at first, Louise is excited to start a new life in Canada with James, her soon-to-be husband, hopeful that it will give them both the opportunity to build their love and their lives in a new and exciting country. They soon realize though that life in Canada is far from simple as they strive to overcome both old and new challenges, all of which test their love. Will their love overcome and stand the test of time? Prologue: "My story starts in Leeds, England, an industrial city, where Louise was born and raised and where she would learn the many talents that sustained her and her husband through the rough times. Both lived a long life, more comfortable in the last few years, always remaining solidly behind the teachings of the Bible. In my story I have navigated around stories that Louise, whom I met in 1958 when I married her grandson, Donald Irving Sharpe(son of Elizabeth 'Betty' & Albert Irving Sharpe), often spoke of regarding the times surrounding her time in Saskatchewan. She mentioned the Railroad, the Province and Rev. Lloyd(the city of Lloydminster is named after) during the 1900's when she made the determination to immigrate and meet up with her true love. She persevered through all the difficulties coming to the bald prairie, knowing very little of the multitude of facets of climate and farm life..."
