Franz Schubert’s Piano Sonata op. 143 in a minor was composed in 1823 after his large “Wanderer Fantasy”. With its formal cohesion and mature originality, this a-minor Sonata initiated a new phase in Schubert’s sonata oeuvre. The composer dispensed here with all pianistic brilliance. At the same time, a wealth of colour and of sonorities triumphs in such a manner that the work numbers among Schubert’s most frequently played sonatas. For this Urtext edition, we had at our disposal the composer’s autograph as the authoritative source; the posthumous first edition was consulted only by way of comparison. Le compositeur renonce ici à tout brio pianistique tandis que triomphent simultanément la richesse des couleurs et la plénitude sonore, au point que cette œuvre compte parmi les sonates de Schubert les plus jouées. Cette édition urtext s’appuie sur le manuscrit autographe du compositeur en tant que source de référence et sur la première édition posthume à titre de comparaison uniquement. Mit ihrer formalen Geschlossenheit und ihrer reifen Originalität leitet die a-moll-Sonate eine neue Phase in Schuberts Sonatenschaffen ein. Der Komponist verzichtet hier auf jegliche pianistische Brillanz. Zugleich triumphieren Farbenreichtum und Klangfülle derart, dass das Werk zu den meistgespielten Schubert’schen Sonaten zählt. Für diese Urtextausgabe stand uns das Autograph des Komponisten als maßgebliche Quelle zur Verfügung, die postume Erstausgabe wurde nur vergleichsweiseherangezogen.
