Definitions of flash fiction vary, but they are usually short stories ranging from a few words to a few hundred words. Our template encourages writers to start with basic character ideas and themes and then to start writing. You can customize this template to create other starting points, like keywords, writing prompts or particular scenarios. There are many ways to publish it for different niches including fanfiction, erotica, horror or historical fiction, and you could even rework it to encourage people to write true life stories. Flash fiction is popular online. Twitter for example has a character limit of 280, so may be a popular venue for very short flash fiction.
