Epigraphy in the Architectural Cityscape of Khiva

Diese Monographie umfasst die Edition und annotierte russische Übersetzung öffentlicher Inschriften Persisch, Türkisch und Arabisch aus dem 11. bis frühen 20. Jahrhundert, die sich in der historischen Landschaft Khorazm in Zentralasien erhalten haben. Der vorliegende Band behandelt erstmals das gesamte bekannte Korpus des erhaltenen Inschriftenmaterials der Stadt Khiva, das zuvor nur etwa zur Hälfte publiziert worden war. Das Buch unterscheidet sich von früheren Arbeiten zur Epigraphik von Khorazm darin, dass es die Inschriften durchgehend in ihrem architektonischen und urbanistischen Kontext präsentiert und ihre kulturelle und soziale Bedeutung als öffentliche Repräsentation untersucht. Dokumentiert wird das gesamte epigraphische Korpus von Khiva durch die Photographien von V.N. Kovrein. This monograph provides the edition, Russian translation and commentary of public inscriptions in Persian, Turkish and Arabic from the 11th to the early 20th century in the historical Central Asian landscape of Khorazm. The publication deals for the first time with the entire corpus of the known preserved epigraphic material of Khiva, of which only about half had been previously published. In contrast to earlier works on the epigraphy of Khorazm, this publication consistently presents the inscriptions in their architectural and urbanistic context and examines their cultural and social significance as public representation. The second part documents the entire epigraphic corpus of Khiva with the photographs of V.N.
