Errico Malatesta was a warm-hearted anarchist of widespread reputation and influence, who said that he considered Anarchy the best thing he had ever written. L'Anarchia, written in 1891, appeared in English translation in Freedom (September 1891--June 1892) and was reprinted as a pamphlet by Freedom Press in 1892. This now classic work has been in continual demand ever since. This is the theory; but to be sound the theory should be based upon an explanation of facts. We know well how in social economy theories are too often invented to justify facts, that is, to defend privilege and cause it to be accepted tranquilly by those who are its victims.
